Dream about dorm room and key

This is my dream blog, where I describe a dream, analyse the elements of the dream and then give a dream interpretation.

In today's dream, our dreamer goes back in time to when they were living in the dorm at University. The dreamer goes away for the weekend and when they return to the campus everything seems fine until they return to the dorm building. At this point the dreamer realises that they do not know which is their dorm room.

The dream takes place in the evening between 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm. It's getting late and the dreamer wants to get unpacked and go to bed. Unfortunately the dreamer can't remember the room number or floor of their dorm. The dreamer wanders the hallways looking for the right door and realises that even if they find the right room, they do not have the keys. The dreamer's home has a keypad and the car has a key fob and so there is no need to carry keys.

The dreamer never finds the room and wakes up trying to find a solution to the problem.

What does this dream mean?

Dorm Room: To dream about a dorm room, usually a dorm room represents a time of being young and free and living with other people who are the same age and at the same stage of life. A University dorm room represents a time of learning and opportunity where you are just starting in life and learning how to care for yourself, to be independent and study new things.

Being Lost: To dream about being lost means that you have strayed from your life path, it can be positive or negative depending on the situation in the dream. You may enjoy being lost in your dream so it could represent an exciting new direction in your life.

Keys: To dream about keys, keys represent the solution to a problem. Keys open the doors to important possibilities in our lives. To lose the keys means that your are unable to access the things that you want. To dream about a push button lock you need to have knowledge of the number to open the lock.

Dream about Time: Being aware of the time in your dream relates to stress in your life. It may be early or late.

Dream Meaning:

In this dream our dreamer is attempting to go back in time to a place of learning and freedom. They have not been away long but somehow time has moved on and it is getting late. It is between 7:00 pm- 8:00 pm in life and the dreamer cannot get entry in to school. They do not have the key, which is the qualifications and they cannot find what they want to learn.The dream is offering reassurance because the dreamer does not need a key to get into the places that they need to go, they have memorised a code for a key pad. This means that our dreamer already has the required knowledge, in fact their knowledge is more up to date than using an old fashioned key. It could be knowledge from life, rather than from books, it is first hand knowledge that does not need to be learned in a class. It is getting too late to go back to school, the dreamer has everything that they need already.

Dream Interpretations

I started interpreting dreams when I was a teenager. I always had very detailed dreams and would recount them to my friends. A boyfriend bought me a dream dictionary and I started to delve into interpretation.
